An ideathon is a play on words combining "idea" and "marathon". The aim of the competition is to solve problems and come up with ideas in new and innovative ways using available technologies and tools in combination with the skills of the members of each research team. The event will take place over the course of three days and will be fully online. Research teams will be working with mentors on a chosen challenge from one of three tracks.

Anyone over the age of 15 can join. We believe that everyone, not only university students, can come up with great ideas. We all have high stakes in the future of education!
No, the entire ideathon is free for all participants.
Every team must have at least two members. Five team members is the maximum.
The opening and closing ceremonies will be streamed online. You will be informed about the exact agenda before the start of the event.
Not at all! We are dealing with problems that often cannot be solved merely with the use of an app. We are looking for visionaries, designers, artists, creatives, psychologists, economists, ecologists, architects, engineers, marketers, entrepreneurs — the list goes on. Basically, we are looking for talented folks from all walks of life who are interested in education and like a good challenge.
That's entirely up to you. If you sign up as an individual, we will help you form a team with other participants on the spot. This will be coordinated via the UniHack 2021 Slack channel.
You're not in it for the money, right? ;) But for an extra dose of motivation, we will have cash prizes for each of the track winners and additional prizes for the overall winner. Furthermore, UniHack 2021 partners can award their own prizes to teams of their choice.
If you sign up and find a team, it would be unsportsmanlike to quit. But if you are faced with sudden, exceptional circumstances, communicate it with your team first and then reach out to the organizers.
In order to participate, all you need is a computer with an internet connection and a tablet or a mobile phone. Everything will be solved via the web, Slack, Zoom, Facebook or Youtube. All communication will be run online, you don't need to be in any one particular place.
The aim of the project is to come up with ideas on how to adapt the education system to fit new challenges utilizing data and AI. Participants are challenged to propose changes to existing frameworks that will create a more personalized, student-centric approach.
Your ideas will help create a platform that will facilitate a better educational experience for students and open doors to fruitful cooperation with businesses and other institutions.
You can choose any of the challenges listed on our website before the start of the ideathon on March 5th. Sign ups to challenges cannot be extended beyond this date, with the exception of justified cases and with the consent of the organizers.
The members of the judging panel will be announced on the day of the event. The judges will evaluate your ideas based on several criteria ranging from proving demand for your idea to UX and usability. Detailed information will be provided to participants before the event starts.
